What is RSV?
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of respiratory illness during the fall and winter seasons. It can cause significant illness, particularly in older adults and infants who are at higher risk of complications.

RSV Vaccine Eligibility – 2025 Season
High-Risk Older Adults
​
All individuals 75 years of age and older are now eligible.
​
Individuals who are 60 years and older who are also:

Residents of long-term care homes, Elder Care Lodges, or retirement homes​​
​

Patients in hospital receiving alternate level of care (ALC), complex continuing care, hospital transitioning programs
​
-
Patients with glomerulonephritis who are moderately to severely immunocompromised
​
-
Individuals receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
​
-
Recipients of solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplants
​
-
Individuals experiencing homelessness
​
-
Individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Metis
​
If an individual has previously received a dose of the RSV vaccine, no additional dose is needed this season, as booster doses are not currently recommended.

Infants and High-Risk Children

Infants born in hospital will be offered protection against RSV as part of their routine postpartum care. Caregivers will receive a yellow immunization card as documentation.
